James M. McMahon, CPA, joined the firm as a director in 2006. Jim earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Accountancy from the University of Illinois, graduating cum-laude in 1984. Jim spent eight years in Arthur Andersen's Chicago Enterprise Group - closely held business practice and Personal Financial Planning practice. Jim moved to Charlotte in 1997, joining KPMG's Personal Financial Planning practice. Prior to joining PFA, Jim was the Tax Managing Director for KPMG's Private Client Services practice in the Carolinas.

Jim serves closely-held business and individual clients in both the U.S. and internationally. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. Jim serves on the Cabinet of Professional Advisors at the Foundation for the Carolinas. Jim is married to his wife of 31 years, Diane, and they have five children.

Ian has over 17 years of tax experience, specializing in a variety of industries including real estate, manufacturing, and professional services. He joined Pesta Finnie after working at RSM for twelve years servicing a wide array of clients with complex tax issues. His journey at RSM began in with their Manufacturing, Wholesaler & Distribution group in Chicago, before relocating to Northern Virginia where he broadened his experience to include real estate focused clients, before settling in Charlotte as his permanent residence. Ian has a diverse background of tax research planning and consulting, significant experience with pass-through entities, private equity owned and closely held businesses, M&A planning and restructuring planning. Ian is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants

Ian earned Bachelor's of Science in Accounting and Agribusiness Management from Pennsylvania State University, State College and a Masters of Taxation from Villanova University School of Law. Ian is married and has three young children. He is also active in the MS Society
